Stand Up to Bullying Video PSA

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Creating Safe Spaces Waffle Breakfast this year! This year was another great success.

We featured the winning videos from our Take It Back Video Contest (which can also be viewed on our YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/safecaring) and the Honourable Thomas Lukaszuk, Minister of Education, also showed a great video on bullying! We even had a candid conversation with some leadership students and Mayor Mandel.

A special Thank You also to our sponsors CTV, TELUS and the University of Alberta School of Retailing.

Together we can create safe, caring and inclusive schools and communities!

Creating Safe Places Waffle Breakfast

The Society for Safe and Caring Schools & Communities invites you to support bullying prevention in Alberta by attending our fifth annual Creating Safe Spaces waffle breakfast.

This special event celebrates National Bullying Awareness Week from November 13 – 19, 2011 and takes place on November 16, 2011 from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m at The Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton.

The breakfast will give you a chance to learn about the work we’ve been doing during the past year, hear from youth who have been personally affected by our programming, and support a great cause along with many of Alberta’s government, corporate and educational leaders.

The breakfast also features an inspirational presentation by a very special guest — Cory B. Johnson!

About Cory B. Johnson

Cory B. Johnson is one of the most uniquely inspiring speakers you may ever see. Born with Cerebral Palsy and suffering a debilitating stroke at age 11, Cory has learned to engage humour and patience to conquer almost any obstacle.

Able to build a successful career as a leadership counselor, investment banker, inventor of innovative products for the disabled, and now as a professional speaker, Cory inspires audiences to find their own paths to success. His first-hand accounts of childhood bullying, police harassment, and workplace rights both grab attention and re-shape stereotypes.

Cory’s presentation is the embodiment of honesty with a healthy dose of fun. Regardless of age, abilities or social stature, Cory helps us all see how we can look at our limitations, and turn “disabilities into possibilities.” He encourages his audiences to see new possibilities within themselves and others. With his own perception on life, he’ll challenge you to remove some of your own barriers.

Feedback from Cory’s presentations:

I think that your presentation, Cory is a perfect fit for the conference and I am confident you will leave an impression that will last a lifetime; I find that I am still quoting you, or referring back to what you shared with us at the Dare to Soar seminar, your perspective entwined with your wonderful sense of humor makes for an unforgettable engagement!
